"George had been serious when he told me the ballet would be difficult. He had me doing everything – turns, balances, jumps, and promenades – and everything, the steps, the partnering, and the timing, required technical expertise, stamina, and phenomenal control. The first time we danced the ballet on stage from start to finish, most of the company was out front watching. Halfway during the run through, everyone burst into applause. I couldn’t get over it. Having my colleagues applied for rehearsal was unbelievable, and I flushed with satisfaction."
