[5/7] This week @dancetheatreofharlem celebrates Founders’ Week, marking the 56th anniversary of the company. Join me in celebrating by learning more about the company in a series of DTH posts!

Balanchine and Lincoln supported Arthur Mitchell and Karel Shook as they founded Dance Theatre of Harlem. Balanchine was on the original board of directors and allowed Mitchell to stage his choreography. The first Balanchine ballet that DTH performed was Concreto Barocco in 1970.
